Christian Lagerwaard has been a leading name in Dutch fashion since 1985, known for his refined vision across design, production, and retail. His house has served a diverse and loyal clientele — from members of the Dutch royal family to international private clients — while remaining proudly rooted in Maastricht.
Born in Krefeld, Germany — a city historically renowned for its weaving mills and textile industry — Christian carries a lineage steeped in craftsmanship. That heritage subtly informs his own design language: one that blends structure and softness, tradition and individuality.
With nearly four decades of dedication to his craft, every piece created under his direction reflects meticulous attention to detail, deep respect for the wearer, and an enduring commitment to elegance.
1985
Lagerwaard's exceptional talent was recognized at the young age of 20 when he clinched the prestigious "Prix Guy Laroche" during the "Concours de Couture," a platform for emerging design talents in the Netherlands in 1985. This achievement led to a personal invitation from Guy Laroche himself, introducing Lagerwaard to the world of high fashion. Furthering his experience, Christian Lagerwaard joined Emanuel Ungaro in Paris in 1992, where he delved into the secrets of high fashion design and craftsmanship.
